virus checking

Is it possible to integrate a virus checker into the attachment upload feature that will give feedback to the poster that the file is infected?

unless the virus checker has a COM interface, it is not possible to do so I am afraid. However, your virus checker should be able to detect whether an attachment has been infected with a virus instantaneously (without user intervention), and if it finds a virus, it will reject the file at a lower level than this forum application. In other words, if you have a virus checker installed on your server, it is highly improbable for users to upload files that have been infected.
