Any update on the status of version 3.0 (with WebForms/code-behind)?

It's stated that it will be ready by Q1 2007 and that's almost over. I'm currently researching forum software to integrate with my site but the ASP model makes it very difficult to me to intgrate it fully with my application.

Any update would be appreciated.

The official plan for .net version (2.5) is to convert our future version 2.4 (based on ASP) into a .NET equivalent. So, in terms of upgrade, you won't have problem at all. It will involve replacing all the ASP files (that's for sure), and that's about it. There could be a small db upgrade, but it won't be major.

We added a lot more features into this Advanced Edition than we originally planned (photo gallery for one). I wouldn't say the project is "delayed" or something because we listen closely to our clients' feedback and keep adding value to the software without raising the price tag or asking for upgrade fee. So once the .NET version is ready, it will be the best. Instead of rushing out a mediocre .net based forum software, I believe you will like our approach better.

I'm shopping for software for a new forum at a new asp.net site. Naturally, I'm looking for asp.net forum software. I like ASPPlayground, but, to consider it, I need to know a little more about the anticipated future. (Of course we never know about the unanticipated future--the real one!) Reading this thread is a bit discouraging, as it looks like the project has been getting postponed for other priorities.

And, if I start with the current version of Playground, what kind of experience am I going to have converting to the .net version? I presume this will be a common scenario.

Thanks for asking but I still do not have a set date for the ported version (v 2.5). Version 2.5 is gonna be a ported version -> which means it is not going to be a fully rewritten version of the software that takes all advantages of the .NET framework. And no, the performance gain of using the future .NET version is not going to be very much. Version 2.5 is going to be a free upgrade for all advanced edition users.

Version 3.0 will be the fully re-written version, that's for sure.

After your post there is a Version 2.2 out. I thought it is only using .NET in Photo Gallery and not fully port to aspx.

When the real aspx version will come out ? Can you make a road map so we can look in to future plans. Will upgrade cost too much, minor or free ? What is the real performance gain about fully .NET version.
Is it will be fully customizable ?

Any more word on an ASP.NET version of the forums? I'm currently looking around for a .NET replacement for Snitz, so I am curious as to when this will be available. I see the word is now version 2.5 will be .NET?

I am preparing the new homepage with the new plan right now . Anyway, I will explain the plan here:

If you purchase the upgrade by Jun 30, you will receive our .NET version (2.5) free of charge. After Jun 30, you will only be able to choose either 2.X ASP or 2.X ASP.NET, but not both.

However the license does not change - you can only run one instance of the forum per license i.e. if you purchase the upgrade by Jun 30 and receive our .NET version in the future, you will have to choose either to use the .NET or the ASP version on your site.

That' s basically it. I will have a full announcement on our home page next week.

I have this question for ya. If I upgrade to Version 2 (Advanced Edition) now will I have to pay another fee for the .Net version? I really am waiting for the .Net version, but if I can upgrade now and play around with the new features and then later upgrade to the .Net version without any additional charges. Also can you please explain what the plans are for this type of scenario or if there both included with your 100 upgrade purchase?

i tried searching for the answer to this question, but i couldn' t find it on the forums. seems wierd that no one has asked yet :P any way, i was wondering if there' s going to be a different pricing scheme for the .NET version. given that the Advanced Edition is now available, if we purchase the Advanced Edition, will we be able to download the .NET version at a later date as well?

Basically the first .NET version will be a ported version from our ASP 2.0. We are going to convert 2.0 ASP into 2.0 .NET (without any dependency to COM, however) shortly after we release 2.0 ASP.

And no, we are not releasing our .NET version on Apr 24
