what if you don't allways want the sender to know you've read the PM? On vbb when someone wants a read receipt the recipient can choose to send a confirmation or not.
It is nothing more than a pop-up with.. memberX has asked for a read receipt. send receipt? Ok Cancel

Yeah, I understand that.

However, this is just a human thing.

If there is an option to not send a confirmation that defeats the whole purpose of the feature.

Everyone knows a Read confirmation means you clicked on the message. It doesn't imply you had the time to really read it and possibly respond to it.

If I want a confirmation that means I want to know if a user logged in and clicked on my PM. Maybe they glanced it or maybe they have a bunch of PM's and will just read it later.

Regardless, I know user 'x' clicked on my PM.

It's just like Delivery confirmation from the Post Office. The PO can confirm the latter was sent and the recipient got it, but you never know if it was opened.

I like the coding as is, personally.
