Admin verification

Hi,
I am just testing the software and I set the field to require admin verification to apply. I want to know where does the admin review people's applications before they are allowed to join? Can I set what group they are part of at that stage based on the info they provide?

Hi Allan,

since email is not enabled on the demo site, you can only see one part of Admin Verification process which I am going to describe below:

1) once a user registers, an email will be sent to the admin email set in the admin control panel, notifying the admin a user is waiting to join the forum. The email can be modified in the admin control panel.

See this section and choose the Related Server Messages tab to review the Admin Approval Related Messages sub section for the email template.

2) since you cannot see the email at the moment (no email sent on the demo forum), you can still list users awaiting approval by going to the User Management section. Check the box titled "Show Users who are waiting for Admins to approve their registration" and click Perform Search (you don't have to input anything in the textbox).

Click on the user name, and you'll see a drop down menu beside "Registration Status" indicating that the person is in "Admin Approval Pending" status. Change the selection and hit Save to approve the user (the user will be able to log in now).

The software does not have the ability to move users to group based on the registration form info. However, with the help of the Site Integration Package (a set of classes to allow you to interact with the forum database externally), you can create your own registration form, examine the user input and move user to desired user group using your own registration logic.

A SIP readme for the previous version is available here. The SIP will be available for the new version once it is out of beta. The SIP will be expanded to include a lot more features.

I also see that once you have pulled down the list of users waiting to be approved you can add them to a group by clicking Add checked members to the selected group on the bottom left side. Correct?

yes, you are right about adding members to a group.

Out of beta -> in about a month. You can join and download the software and test now actually instead of waiting. See the announcement on the forum homepage for more info.
