Yes. You can configure the feature on a per-forum basis to allow:
- Subscribe to thread
- Subscribe to forum
- Both
Your members can click on the "subscribe" link to track forums or topics, and can also subscribe when posting a message (a check box is available).
Then, once there is a new message posted on the forum, subscribers will get notified instantly via e-mail. As the admin of the forum, you will
have the ability to format the notification message, for example, decide whether to include the message body or not, whether to include the title or not, etc. We have detailed help file in the admin panel to help you with the formatting.
The thread subscription feature in our software also
works as a bookmark system. What this means is that if you no longer want to receive message notification on a particular thread, you can choose "Don't Get Email Notification" to stop notification for this message instantly without deleting the subscription. It then functions like a browser's bookmark system that you can always come back to the thread you like with a mouse click.
On a super busy forum, subscription can sometimes cause problems because your mail box can get flooded by the emails sent by the forum software (e.g. if you subscribe to a forum that receives 300 messages everyday). To prevent this problem, as a member, you can go to your
forum profile interface and change your subscription preference:
For
Forum subscription preference, choose either
Notify me whenever a message is posted OR
Notify me only when a new topic is posted For
Thread subscription preference, choose either
Notify me whenever a message is posted OR
Notify me once per thread until I visit the thread again In addition to these features, your member can also choose to receive only
Daily Digest or
Weekly Digest for the subscribed threads/forums to further reduce the amount of emails they receive.
If you are a registered member of this support forum, click here to see the
subscription interface where you can manage your subscription. Or click
here to go to your profile editing interface where you can set your email notification preference.
