Way to indicate there are attachments in a thread

Samuel, It would be really nice if you added a little .gif to indicate what threads had attachments..something like Vbulletin Some forums use a little floppy disk image. You know what I mean. Going a bit further out feature wise- it would be cool if people could click on a search for all threads with attachments. Thanks for your consideration.

Samuel, Sorry to be a pest on this. I did a search for file attachment and found this from a while ago: http://www.aspplayground.net/forum/m_377309/mpage_1/key_file%252Cattachment//tm.htm#377355 For me- the attachment icon would make the forum much easier to navigate. Since vbulletin is so wide spread people assume if there is no icon there is no attachment. Couldn't the attachment icon be an Admin config option if it effects performance? It seems odd that as many features as playground has that this basic thing would be tough to implement properly as far as features vs. performance.

Dean, I guess I'm just not getting the usefulness of an attachment icon, especially in the vb example. It just shows that somewhere in a topic and all its replys (could be hundreds) there is at least one attachment. I don't see myself reading a topic just because it has an attachment, then searching for the dang thing. On the other hand, I can easily see users doing that on your board, don't wanna miss anything! However, I do see the usefulness of searching for posts with attachments. chief

chief, Yes- on my board it's all about the attachments. However, I do see the usefulness of searching for posts with attachments. That would do. "Show all messages with attachments".

Hi Dean, As I indicated in this message, http://www.aspplayground.net/forum/m_381140/tm.htm , I do take every suggestion to my feature consideration list. But I may not have an answer right away because a feature can be implemented in many different ways, and I have to evaluate each possible implementation before giving a definite answer.

Hi Samuel, I never read that 'read me first'. Usually, you do comment in some way on suggestions. Some simple way one can 'Show all Posts with Attachments' would be fine if a visual indicator like Vbulletin has turns out to not suit the forum software. Glad to see you are OK. You went several consecutive days without posting which isn't like you and I was just about to post a "Is Samuel OK?" message. I figured you were deep into the SIP project.

Thanks Dean! And yes, it took me a few days to create the SIP + the document. I wanted to make it entirely indepdent of our forum's ASP files and it required some careful planning before I started the first line of code. This feature will definitely be included in version 2.4.

COOL. BTW, not sure who designed your emoticons, but it would be really neat to have a few more from the same designer. I mean built in smiley's. A Thumbs Up smiley is a must have really.
