Version 1.99.24 (SP1-SP5) Release note - 12/06/2002 04:10:36 PM
Version 1.99.24 (including SP1-SP5) release note:

This version has the following new features:

User features:

  1. Revamped Search Engine with full paging support and high performance. A new selection allows you to combine a topic and its replies in the search result. Also, search results are now based on ranking even for normal query search.
  2. Adding a simple search text box in each forum.
  3. New FAQ page explaining most of the features of the forum.
  4. New FAQ search tool.
  5. New paging system for message list display. This paging system allows sorting on all columns (including topic and author name), as well as new message filter.
  6. Adding a submit button to the preview window.
  7. Adding a new drop down box for selecting font face.
  8. adding MSN Messenger option to the profile.
  9. 4 new smileys.


Admin features:

  1. Admin can decide whether to delete messages when deleting users.
  2. Admin has the new ability to specify sort order and message filter for each forum.
  3. Support for SoftArtisans SMTPMail
  4. Support for CDOSYS (both pickup directory and external SMTP server)
  5. Support for ASPEmail component
  6. Native support for domain and path settings for login cookies
  7. Disapprove registration function (1 additional server message)
  8. You can choose to hide/unhide unselected categories on forum' s home page (default.asp) in the admin panel
  9. You can choose to display parent messageID or author name on message display page (tm.asp) in the admin panel



Important Enhancements / New Application Logics:

  1. Adding paging to the top of message display interface, as well as new paging system at the bottom (tm.asp).
  2. Hide other categories (only show the selected one).
  3. Code optimization.
  4. remove block character for all posts.
  5. fix German Date Time display error.
  6. Opera 7.10 browser compatibiliy
  7. several minor bug fixes.
  8. redesigned tm.asp & m.asp HTML table to avoid message distortion.
  9. Performance increase for tt.asp (with 9 additional stored procedures)
  10. Performance increase for search (with 6 additional stored procedures)
  11. Bug fix and performance enhancement for the paging system (tt.asp)
  12. Bug fix and performance enhancement for search engine
  13. XSS security enhancement with our own HTMLEncode function.
  14. XSS security prevention with our own JSEncode function.
  15. 4 new Cookie setting functions in session.asp
  16. Message length limit removed for all server messages
  17. Re-designed paging stored procedure to bring the performance back to the level of version 1.96
  18. Bug fix and performance enhancement for search engine. The searchFor functions are now back to the original format
  19. Slight HTML change in the post window and management window
  20. Registration page change
  21. Member list will now indicate moderator status
  22. Many minor bug fixes and enhancements
  23. Adding a few missing language strings
  24. CSS header class is assigned to all table headers
  25. Auto update forum statistics for moderated forums (logic change)
  26. Send out subscription notification once posts are approved in moderated forums
  27. Bug fix for first.asp
  28. A JS warning window will pop up when the message body for private message is too long (max 4900 characters)
  29. PM storage warning
  30. resolve the subscription sending problem if you are sending more BCC subscription mails once than your mail server allows.
  31. workaround for the HTTP compression problem
  32. searchpro.asp -> add " with (nolock)" lock hint to the select statement
  33. better handling of attachments after a user has been deleted.
  34. reuploaded attachment reference incorrect if the original post does not contain an attachment
  35. increase the column width for pgd_config.sitehome and pgd_config.forumdir

Once again, this version is a huge update. We have added/modified many of the underlying structure to provide better performance/stability/features in this version.

The list is updated to reflect all the changes made since 1.99.24. Now the list contains all the updates from 1.99.24 - 1.99.24 SP5

A small error:

  • criteria is spelled wrong on the memberlist.asp page. It is spelled ‘crietria’ on the memberlist.asp page.

    Please modify the text string MemListMemMatch, in this file: language.asp.
