Updates coming to version 3.2
Thu. Nov 27, '08 12:42 PM

In the upcoming version 3.2, we are going to address some issues with regards to usability and performance (esp. Firefox) - We are going to change the style of links by making a more prominent distinction between navigational links and links that behaves like buttons (submit). This will definitely make it easier for users to see what's going on the page
- We are going to increase the default font size on tabs and the DHTML menu, to make it stand out better against the background and other text.
- Fixing an issue on the editor with regards to copying and pasting content that is Firefox specific.
- With regards to performance, several important code changes will occur
- Support for BF cache on Firefox. BF cache on Firefox makes browsing faster but is not compatible with several of ASP.NET's built in feature (viewstate, event validation, etc.).
However, disabling BF cache by issuing the no-store HTTP header is not ideal either as this makes the back/forward button on Firefox behave like a reload button on the previous/next page. Everything needs reloading (although it is not reloading from the server, it is still not as fast). We found a good workaround that solves this issue completely which in turn improves performance considerably on Firefox. - Improves the efficiency on the message page (when a thread has hundreds of pages of replies) by changing the SQL stored procedures and the message template.
This boosts the performance considerably as we now make much better use of clustered index than before. - Improves the efficiency on search by simplifying the search statement.
All these changes are currently working on this support forum, and you can make a comparison with the demo forum which is still running on version 3.1.5 (the most current release) to see the difference. Again, we focus solely on performance as well as usability (there are quite a few changes that I did not mention today) for version 3.2, and will add additional features to the software after this (3.3) .

Great news, Samuel! Also don't forget about IE 8, though I wish I could.

Samuel, Excellent news. Could you confirm it is possible to upgrade from 2.5.5 Unicode to 3.2 directly? Thank you,
