Unable to log out

About two weeks ago I changed the homepage URL in my configurations page, as I wanted to have our member' s redirected to a slightly different page when logging out. I was then notified by some of our members that they were unable to actually log out of the forum. I changed it back to what it was originally, but I' m still receiving constant complaints on this. I' ve suggested to these member' s that they make sure none of the save cookie' s boxes are checked, but they still have the problem. Since some of our member' s use shared computer' s at work, this is a slight concern. (One member goes so far as to search out and delete the cookie after each session). On the other hand, I am also unable to change my own profile ~ it won' t let me change my ' location' information. At every attempt, it gives me an error warning in red Your Login or Email has been chosen, please try again. But this problem started prior to my changing the redirect, I think. Any suggestions? We upgraded our software about 2 months ago.

I guess the cookies on their computers are corrupted. They will definitely log out (end session) by clicking on the log out link, and it is just that their cookies remain on their computers. Did you change the cookie path and domain information in the admin control panel? If so then that' s the problem. Just ask your members to clear their cookies and the problem will be gone. The other problem: it just means that there are other people using your e-mail address as well. Use the admin control panel to find out who they are and edit their e-mails (or edit yours). The e-mail address has to be unique for each member.
