48790 Registered users have made 103975 posts in 169 forums. There are currently 12588 topics. You can find us at Tazoon.com. We are a fansite for a large online RPG. Frankly, thanks to your software our forum has a faster response, cleaner look, and stronger functionality than the "Official" forum.

CRISSCROSS,

That's a big page with a lot of stuff.

Did you optimize all the images?

Size of all images: 223.809 kB
Size of HTML-source: 63.142 kB
Size of whole page: 286.951 kB

In particular...

..100K+ Ouch. I think you can get that way down.

Frodic,

I've seen your board before- looks great. Great header and nice feel with the colors.

Why not enable SE Friendly to help out in the search engines?

ChatAboutWeddings,

I'm the Junior admin. Mostly in charge of clean up and things like Moderator policy etc. I'll have Ginesh check out the SE friendly feature.

hosted on a colo server at serverbeach

i wrote a message of the day addin that displays small text at the top of every page, and controls who sees it by forum groups, and same with who can edit it.

Announcements just didn't fit what we needed to do.

Not much else really. :) a lot of my custom mods have been put into 2.2 and earlier.

I know I'm late for the thread, but hey, why not jump in.

http://www.sharepointu.com/ (syndicates posts from the "News" forum)

http://www.sharepointu.com/forums/ (actual forums).

We added our own RSS handling to 2.2, replaced the gradient images with IE-specific CSS filters for gradients, and lots of other small mods to support our community database backend.

What do you think?

I thought you might like to know that I am using your software to support blogging on my site - two blogs are up with a third to come:
http://www.topxml.com/forum

As I mentioned previously, the RSS *import* feature would round things out very nicely - to create a full-featured site (articles/forum/rss/blog).

Now you can see why I look at your software as "CMS" rather than just a limited use forum-only software. If you look at it in a different light it is very useful! :)

Hmm. Guess I'll update this thread since a few people posted new info.

I have my own site now at www.SilkyErotica.com/forum

Warning: It's an adult site, so don't visit if you aren't ok with adult stuff.

I use the gallery feature heavily and take advantage of being able to post in HTML. I also utilize the SignmaChat integration script. OH, and have an RSS feed too.

Enjoy.

I saw this reference to Interland on the forum and just had to respond. My experience with Interland was horrific. My site was down for over a week due to a server swap. I could not get any help despite my desperate attempts to get someone's attention. This was in the fall 2003 time frame. I switched to Alentus. I cannot say enough good things about them. They are reasonably priced, provide UNBELIEVABLE support, and are a technically advanced hosting firm. ASPPlayGround Forum runs without a hitch on Alentus.

This is a bit belated. We are intergrating ASPPlayground Forum into www.chescomart.com. This site is still in development. We plan to employ the basic engine for a variety of applications over time.

ASPPlayground Forum rocks!

I could I skip this thread?

Here we are: www.ilquen.it . And here's ASPPlayground: www.ilquen.it/numenor .

We are a web-community dealing with J.R.R. Tolkien, but not only. Website entirely in Italian.

And, of course, I am a big fan of ASPPlayground. V. 2.4 is excellent, no need to say! :)

I am looking into a host for the ASPPlayground Forum and CrystalTech does appear very feature rich. I will probably go with them...

However, I have 2 Questions:

How is CrystalTech's P-e-r-f-o-r-m-a-n-c-e?

And do you have any opinon on Infosaic?

Thanks so much for your time.

As to web hosts, let me suggest www.crystaltech.com they are the best I've seen in years of trying them all. Their support is similar to Samuels. Meaning the best, of course.

hi, I've found Crystaltech's performance to be above average along with their support and uptime. I've been with them over a year now and don't really have any complaints.

Guess I never listed my board:

http://www.armyairforces.com/forum

Currently with 295 forums - some even get posts in them.

I've been looking forward to this day for a long time.  I purchased ASP Playground back in January of 2003 and yesterday I finally launched my site and forum!  Almost 2.5 years... not bad, huh?

(no, the delay was not ASP Playground's fault!)

Anyway, here it is.  Still lots to do, but at least it's "out" now.

Hi,

I can relate to you. I used to be with interland myself. I had one server and ever nightmare on earth happend. They kept billing my card even after I cancelled my service, they charged me enormous bandwidth fees! I was supposed to have Plesk control panel, I got one domain, they never told me that! They mislead and lie!Good move that you left those lying thieves! I am in Canada so it was impossible to sue them , so I had to cancel my credit card, and I recently moved to an ISP called sparkservers.net where I get unlimited bandwidth and I have different payment options available. I am also paying in canadian funds which was hard to find. They cater to affordable hosting.

Thanks
