System requirements for version 3.x

Web Server

• Windows 2003 / 2008 Server with IIS 6 / 7 ;
• .NET Framework 3.5 SP1 (get it here).
  
  • Make sure your ASP.NET version number is 2.0.50727.3053 or higher for the last 4 digits;
  • You can download the version checker, unzip and upload the version.aspx file onto your server to determine your IIS and ASP.NET version.
  • We do not currently support .NET 4.0, so if you have .NET 4.0 installed on your server, make sure you set the framework version to 3.5 for the forum. VS2010 sets a targetframework attribute to the compilation tag in web.cionfig so please make sure you remove it for the forum.

• A folder marked as a web application on your server (a standard ASP.NET requirement)
• ASP.NET Session and ViewState must be enabled (default setting);
• The 'Network Service' account (ASP.NET account) has NTFS Modify permission on one sub folder (for file attachments and license key storage);
• We support both Medium Trust environment and the new IIS 7 Integrated Pipeline Mode

Database Server

• An empty database on Microsoft SQL Server 2005 / 2008 (including the free SQL 2005 Express with Advanced Services and the SQL 2008 Express with Advanced Services versions). 
  • Server using Turkish collation is not currently supported (due to the many different variations of the "i" character). We do support Turkish language if the server collation is Latin or any other non case-sensitive collation;
  • SQL Express Edition without Advanced Services is not supported.
• Full-text Index required for forum message and private message search.
• Stored Procedure create / execute permission required (this is almost a guarantee, unless you tweak the settings on your server).
• db_datareader and db_datawriter role membership required on the database for forum operation (this is almost a guarantee, unless you tweak the settings on your server).
  • Additional permission (e.g. db_owner) required during Installation and Upgrade as we may need to create / drop tables and stored procedures.
• We DO NOT support the following database platforms:
  • Microsoft SQL Server 7
  • Microsoft SQL Server 2000
  • Oracle
  • MySQL
  • Microsoft Access
