System Recommendation and 64-bit extensions

I am very curios about hardware that I would use in our forum db or web app. servers.

What do you offer Dual Opteron 244 or 246 with 1 gig/2 gig ? server or for now Dual Xeon 2.4 Ghz would be enough.

Our loading in Snitz is 2500 posts a day, 200 Concurrent users 1,5 Million Pages a month. With total 510000 posts, and 65000 topics and 6500 users.

And a 64-bit extensions question ? Microsoft planning to release SQL 2000 and Server 2003 with 64 extension support in next 6 months. Does this software going to boost forum db or app. ser. just as is. or do you have to update software or re write most of it.

It is very important to scale as much as 5 million posts in next 2 years with hardware and software upgrade/ updates. I know it's hard to predict but after now I have to forecast for a planning.

And I visited all the listed boards in main page for performance watch in last few days.

I found Ovusoft is far away from other boards interestingly also big as it fast. Some boards with compression software enabled doesn't seem to be fast as Ovusoft. My question are they in a dedicated servers and what is their system configurations.

as far as I know, the ovusoft host is a dedicated web and a shared sql.

They are on Microsoft-IIS/5.0, but I didn't show compression software.

I know they have many mods to the forum. But they are also running an old version:

I suppose, ideally one would want a dedicated Web Server(s) and a Dedicated SQL Server. As long as the machines are robust and the host is good...you should be fine.

Further out- one can get a couple or more hosts and use DNS management. Distributed processing.

It would be nice to have two web hosts dedicated web server- one on East Coast USA and one on West Coast USA, and a dedicated SQL Server on another host.

It is not going to affect the software.

2) Look at servermatrix.com, or ev1servers.net, they have the
best reputation on webhostingtalk... Check out the data transfers!
We started using them few months ago and so far they are great.
(Using Helm is another issue)

Currently we are using Snitz but I already bought Aspplayground and switching.

Forum site is in turkey and language will be turkish for turkish people. So I can't go outside for speed and latency problems.
