Snitz forum conversion to aspplayground

Hello,

Can Snitz forum Version 3.4.04 be 100 percent converted to ASP Playground?. How about the encoded member password in Snitz?, can this be converted too or do members have to register again after the conversion process.

we have a DTS package that can convert version 3.4.04 Access version of Snitz to ASPPG, and there is also a mod that can be used to authenticate Snitz's hashed password so that your users do not have to register again.

there is also one thing to consider.

The member ID of the admin on ASPpg is 0
The member ID of the admin on snitz is 1

If you've used also the member name Admin on your snitz forum it is wise to change the name to something else before converting or change the username admin on asppg to something else, or you'll encounter a conflict during importing.
You'll have to continue with the account with member ID 1 after the conversion, that is the admin account you are using as forum admin on Snitz. After conversion you can login with the asppg admin account and give yourself the admin rights you need.

What I also missed was some more user info like registration date, initial ip nr, homepage info. Postcount is not possible 'cause ASPPG is more dynamically with the postcount.

We made a custom script that syncronizes registration date. I will release that to. ICQ, msn's are converted too. The biggest problem is Snitz forum post codes are different than APG codes so sometimes it's hard to read old posts. Maybe Samuel could do that but I am not sure that work is very needed.

We need to work on APG to take it further. I sugest you to leave Snitz as soon as possible. Snitz is good forum but it is slow. After 100K post you can't make any searches. After 100 users it's getting need to upgrade your hardware after 200 users there is nothing you can do. It crambles.

I noticed that Snitz codes are written as html in the database and that it shows perfectly in APG as long as the original posts are not editted by the member or a moderator, because in that case the html won't be seen as html anymore when the post is resubmitted from APG to the database.

So with conversion of old posts that won't be editted anymore it won't be a problem.

I'm considering a purchase of either ASPplayground, or simply using Snitz....for those in this post that want to convert to ASPplay from Snitz...why do you want to do that? What do you find better in ASPplay?

I'd like to know so that i can base my own decision more appropriately.
