Sitewide sticky post (pinned)

It would be helpful if we could pick what forums we want to add a pinned message to or at least be able to "broadcast" a sitewide sticky post (pinned message) into every forum.

have you thought about using the news announcement feature if what you want is "sitewide"?

I do use that BUT many users just pass right over it. An inline sticky that looks like a post in every forum tends to get far more attention since users are tuned to reading post titles. Also once they are off the homepage they will never see it.

I will add this feature in 2.2 by inserting the announcements into the forum interface. Thanks for the suggestion.

We have version 2.2 and the announcement per forum feature has not been integrated.

Is this something you will have for version 2.3 or should it be available in 2.2 as suggested?

Otherwise it's a great package so far. No doubt I will have some upgrade suggestions for in the near future!

I think he means that you can select in which forum the announcement has to appear. The best option is to have a drop down box where you can select multiple forums where the announcement has to appear. Or a list with checkboxes.

For example.. I have a forum where only selected members (a group) may enter and I want just there in that forum only an announcement to appear. That announcement is not for the other members who even doesn't know the existance of that forum because it is hidden for regular members.

The thread was related to having a 'sticky' (announcement) on a particular forum.

So the usage of the sitewide announcement would not be helpful if the annoucement is aimed at a particular forum or even category within a forum.

After clearning all that up.... Are we supposed to have this feature in v2.2? Or are we expecting forum specific announcements to be a part of v2.3?

2.2 is allready finished...

1) no, I never included that in the feature list in 2.2 (released last Dec.)
2) the suggestion was made after the feature list for 2.3 was finalized, so it won't be part of version 2.3 either.
3) about 2.4: I don't have a final feature list yet.

Been following all that. It would certainly be a very useful feature to be able to have forum specific announcements although I guess the workaround is a normal post in that forum with some kind of font/colour which grabs the attention. I hope you will consider it for inclusion in the next version though as it would be nice to be able to set announcements across a range of forums (fora?) from an admin panel

I will consider the adding the feature for version 2.4 (announcement in selected forums). Currently, you can do this:

1) site wide announcement -> either on the homepage (default.asp), or as a message in all forums, or both
2) forum specific announcement -> use the "pinned to top" feature to mark a message as announcement in any forum
