Site replication/licensing

We have redundant servers that host one url. Do we have to buy two licenses to cover the 2 sql servers and the 2 webservers that are load balancing?

Hi, Yes, one license is required per server.

Is that one license per web server or per database server?

it is one license per instance of the software installed. If you purchase 2 licenses, you can have the software installed on 2 locations, whether it is serving one URL (load balanced) or 2 URLs (for 2 separate sites). One instance is defined as one copy of the ASP/ASP.NET files (defined in our package) and one copy of the database objects defined by our full installation SQL script. However, please note that we do not charge for installation on development server. So you can have one copy of the software loaded on your own machine for testing/customization and one copy loaded on your production server.

If I have one server but 60 web sites and each of those web sites needs a forum of it's own, how many licenses do I need? And, slightly off topic, is there an "overseer" interface for your software that shows all forums (here I define forum as message board for one separate URL) and allows you to point at a domain/directory and "create forum for this url"?

Thanks for your interests in our software. Let me answer the questions one-by-one: 1) 60 licenses are required, but we can give you a special pricing. If you are interested, email me at info@aspplayground.net 2) no, we do not have such functionality built in. Each forum has to be set up separately.

Hi, if we need to install one ASP-PGD on our server asppgd.mydomain.com, and we use it as: abc.mydomain.com/bbs/ and def.mydomain.com/bbs... basically we are sharing the same forum software with several different servers in same domain/site, i suppose we still only need one license because we only installed it once, am i correct? Thanks

We have a temporary development URL and then the final production URL. If we remove the software from the DEV URL right after moving to the PROD URL how many licenses do we need? How much is the developer's license per server?

Hi John, I replied your email yesterday. I will attach it below: Dear John, Thanks for your email first. We do not charge license fee for software instances on development server, so if at the end you will only be using the software on one URL (the production server), you only need one license. Let me know if you have other questions regarding licensing. Regards, Samuel Chou ASPPlayground.net
