Should be XHTML 1.0 Strict - 09/11/2007 11:48:56 AM
We have now been operating two ASP Playground Forums in National Defence: one on the Internet and another on the Intranet.  Now that Government of Canada has proclaimed the new Common Look and Feel standards, I am forced to have all sites and applications comply with XHTML 1.0 Strict.  I don't want to reinvent the wheel but... unless I can convert my code to that standard, my forums will be shutdown on 1 Jan 2009!...

Any suggestions?

Samuel

our next version will be coded with <!DOCTYPE html PUBLIC "-//W3C//DTD XHTML 1.0 Transitional//EN" "http://www.w3.org/TR/xhtml1/DTD/xhtml1-transitional.dtd">, so I am sorry to tell you that it is not currently in our plan to support Strict.

Hi! Sam,

When do you think your "XHTML 1.0 Transitional" release will be?

Thank you.

Sam,
I didn't get an approximate date back.  Do you have any timeline in mind for the XHTML 1.0 Transitional version?  I will probably start over with a different product as much as I would hate to do this it would still be the simplest way.  I don't want to rewrite ASP Playground to the Strict standard.  Our forum was often referred by other Government agencies as a model for having implemented a bilingual and compliant forum but now we have to move on.  I have over 4000 members (internet and intranet) that will be really pissed off to have to learn a different product...

I know that PHPBB is XHTML 1.0 Strict compliant but I wanted to stick with .Net for the integration with our existing intranet portal...

We will be choosing the way ahead in Jan 2008 so I have a few months left to get some good news back from you (hopefully...)

Thanks again for all the great support you provided since our first implementation of ASP Playground.

Cheers
