Server move / admin problem
Wed. Mar 19, '03 9:45 AM
( permalink)
I moved my forum to a different server (and upgraded to SP4 at the same time ack). Anyway, everything seems to be working EXCEPT every time I click the Admin button to make any forum changes I get HTTP 500 Internal Server Error. I checked the WWW log on the new box and find the following error: 2003-03-19 14:41:05 192.168.1.103 GET /admin/default.asp |1|ASP_0131|Disallowed_Parent_Path 80 - 192.168.1.16 Mozilla/4.0+(compatible;+MSIE+6.0;+Windows+NT+5.1;+.NET+CLR+1.0.3705) 500 0 0 Any ideas? Thanks in advance Jeff

You need to enable " parent path" for your forum. Use Internet Services Manager to enable it.

So what are the security implications of allowing "parent path" ? Is it possible to ../../ out of the webroot by allowing this ? Thanks, B.L

parent path is no longer required for the software (it was for the Classic Edition). In this advanced edition, we do not need parent path to be enabled on the server.
