Security and Use of the Forum Mon. Jan 17, '05 9:29 AM (permalink)

I am searching for a Forum that I will be able to do the following:
- Look out all unregistered users (I can do this by removing access from the guest login)
- change the look to match my sites
- create reports on to send to the admin via email
- have email verification for new users (I saw this work when setting up my account, is that by default)
- validate users against an existing SQL Customer DB

Hi,

Thanks for your message. Let me answer your questions one-by-one:

1) yes, you can lock out by requiring Guests to register first. The feature is in admin control panel, under section basic configuration
2) you can change the header/footer, basic CSS styles to match your site
3) what reports are your referring to?
4) yes, it is on by default
5) to validate against an existing SQL DB, you need to use the SIP (site integration package ), and here is the general idea on how you do it: you use the SIP's PGDRegistration class to import you exisitng users to the forum's database programmatically, and your users will be able to login using the forum's login interface.

Hi Samuel, what will happen for those new users on our own site after we installed ASP-PGD? will they be imported into ASP-PGD DB automatically? No?

Thanks

no, you have to import them since the software has no way to know how you stored your member data. See this message for a brief description on the fast member import feature:
