Hi there,
A lot of stuff came up to me which forced me to delay the release of SQL version (schoolwork, personal stuff). Orginally planned release date was around early December 2001, but since then I got lots of things from school (projects, labs, reports) which I won' t be able to handle if I am going to keep up the development of SQL server version.
However, most of the database design and backend logics are completed, it is just that I have to fine tune the code and polish the user interface for the new features that are not available in Access version.
So what should you expect from the final release of SQL version? The following is a list:
1.Speed. Unbeatable speed like you see right now on the board (check my speed report in the Forum Announcement)
2.Features. All useful features you see in major forum software whether they are ASP or CGI or PHP. However, I left out some features that may sacrifice performance.
3.Administration. Very flexible design which allows you to administer all aspects of a BBS system.
4.Price. Instead of asking users to pay premium for developer version which usually costs thousands, I will release source code to all versions which will be based on the size of your organization.
ASPPlayground has been under development for about 5 months, and as you can see, each new version I released (from 1 - 2 - 3 - 3.1 - 3.2[sr1,sr2,sr3]) had a lot more enhancements than the previous. Therefore, you can count on me to provide the BEST in my SQL version.
