I have received a lot of e-mails lately complaining that they have been receiving mails from me repeatedly. The following are two of the complaints and my replies: ############## Complaint 1 ###################### I received an e-mail stating that " RCadmin-RCU just posted a message on our forum!" I am not a subscriber to this site and there should be no way you would have access to my e-mail. I do, however, frequent RC Universe. The above e-mail, though, is not connected to that site. How is it possible that you have my e-mail listed on your site? Mike >----- Original Message ----- >From: < admin@aspplayground.net> >Sent: Tuesday, April 22, 2003 1:06 AM >Subject: RCadmin-RCU just posted a message on our forum! > Enter Your Message Here ############## Complaint 2 ###################### I keep being sent messages about posted messages on a forum I know nothing about. Could you tell me what' s going on please? -David This is my explanation: ############## Reply 1 ###################### That was an error in Rc' s forum configuration. we do not have your e-mail. Rc' s e-mail notification sent out as admin@aspplayground.net because it is the default e-mail when the software is first installed. RC didn' t change that so the mail appeared to be from us. Don' t worry, as we will never purchase e-mail addresses or send spams. ############## Reply 2 ###################### Hi David, Could you please do me a favor? Let me explain what happened exactly: RCUniverse purchased the forum software from us, and they forget to change the admin e-mail of the software as well as the server message our software send out - the message you got repeatedly was from RCUniverse, but it appeared to be from us. They probably were testing the forum software. Can you e-mail the admin at RCuniverse (you can forward this e-mail to him) and ask them to change the admin e-mail? Again, we have nothing to do with this mailing, and please do not worry, as we never spam nor did we purchase bulk e-mail addresses for sending ads. I apologize for the inconvenience, but to resolve the issue you need to contact RCUniverse. These are what they sent back after reading my mails: ############## Response 1 ###################### Thank you for such a personal response! I also got a reply from Marc (RCAdmin). He has set up quite a site for the RC Community. Thanks again. Sincerely, Mike ############## Response 2 ###################### Hi Samuel, Thanks for the email. It' s all explained now! I have sent a message to the webmaster at RC Universe. Regards David So, if you are one of the many people who received such mails from us, do not worry. What you can do is you can report this to RCUniverse. We do not have your e-mail address, and this is by no means SPAM from ASPPlayground.NET. Let me repeat: I hate spam, I am one of the victims of SPAM too. I have no way to stop it because I am doing business on the net that I need to make my e-mail addresses publicly available. I will never SPAM, and to avoid SPAM, I will never build a mass-mailing feature in our software for people to abuse it.
