Since the release of beta 3, I have again planned for another major update.
It will be called beta 3.2-Access (beta 3 build 2). This version will have a lot more features for both admin and users. Archiving messages (based on date or # of posts), hit counter plus topic locking, application of color scheme to all visible pages (but not admin pages), three viewing styles (the two you currently see here plus " True Flat" -UBB style), docking / un-docking frames for W3C compliant browsers which 98% of my visitors use, more secured DHTML tree, and based on Access DB. SQL server version will not be released for this version, because the performance need for SQL implementation is low.
After this beta 3.2-Access release, I will stop making Access version and concentrate on SQL server version. SQL server implementation is where ASP Playground really kicks asses. Due to the advantage of stored procedure, SQL implementation will elimintate all performance restriction due to ASP code itself.
I will delay the release of beta 3.2-Access to mid August, and hope to get it done flawlessly because this will be the last ASP 3.0 + AccessDB version.
Version 1.0 that comes right after beta 3.X is gonna be based on ASP.NET(VB.NET) + SQL server 2000 with new paging technique plus web farm support.
ASP Playground is geared toward both performance and functionality. Adding features to a forum is relatively easier than the core design for performance. I am and will keep perforamce as a priority when designing an application.
