Is there any way of integrating a pay for membership function? I am looking for a way to charge for certain memberships.

Man.. I was just thinking that.

What I see people doing...

They have some link on the page.. goes to a webpage that talks about upgrading memberships. Lists the benefits of being a member (upgraded member).

Paypal button.

Once payment is received, they put the user into a private group that has access to some special forum that regular members can't see. They also give them an updated custom title like <Contributing Member> or something.

That way, the person who pays can easily be tagged since they sent payment, and you put them into this private group that has access to some forum that has cool stuff for people to pay for.

I've also see where people just get the custom title and pride for knowing they paid to help the forum. They got no special access to any forums that regular members couldn't see.

Paypal membership integration will be availble as an add-on, and will be released sometime after 2.2.

Thanks

Samuel maybe more features can be add to Contributing Member. Such as high priority queries than others in forum code. Or sit on a private server than others do and more PM limit and in a email notify whole reply could be sent. Maybe access to mobile editons such as Pocket PC version of forum. More search options.

And surely no advertisements in every page but I think there is nothing to deal with you.

Your forum is setup to make everybody register before they can view and post.

But that's not what I'm looking for. I wanted somehow to integration a pay for membership option so I can add people to groups and such that would have higher access.

If I disallow guests to even browse my forum, that means search engines as well.

Not what I want to do for rankings.

We have decided not to code such mod after the SIP. SIP can be used to register users using your own payment system, and you can also add members to a group with it.

But you can not control features available to them. If you can not able make it attractable it will be unsuccessful business approach from the beginning. We can't do that by all our selves.

All of big forum in world wide are having high bandwidth problems, dedicated server fees and other things that will stops forum progress. If you able to give a feature from you forum software I believe all of these forum owners would think transferring their forum to yours.

Small fees with quantity will make difference. I know a site that called www.pocketpcthoughts.com making this kind of thing internally coded. Now you can see in their forum every hot topic has one or two paid users.

What feature could they have ;

A cool icon under their avatar.

More pm limit

More upload limit

More customizations

Access to mobile forum

for very low bandwidth (maybe only text)
and low pixel compatible

Query prioritizations (if could be) or private server

Access to special forums

Email blast for subscripted forums

Able to reply from email

What do you think ?
