Optional Year in Birthday Entry
Thu. Sep 16, '04 10:31 PM

Don't know about everybody else, but I'm a little reluctant to put too much personal information online. Why not make the birth year optional? Day and Month should be more than enough information. Besides, with my audience (older veterans, spouses, etc)...some of the ladies object to the idea of publicizing their age, but sure would like to get a nice birthday notice.

you can actually hide age if you want in your profile... that will hide the year in the birthday calendar.

Hiding the birth date in profile still gets you a birthday announcement in the Calendar? How good a hiding job is that? Maybe it needs a better explanation.

Actually, the option is called "hide age", which explains it very well. Your birth *date* (month, day, and year) cannot be determined by someone viewing the calendar. If you don't even want to reveal your birth *day*, then don't put it in your profile.
