Only Display Forum Categories on first screen...

Hi,

On your forum you have categories like:

Announcements
FAQ - ASPPlayground Forum SQL
ASP Playground Forum

And when someone clicks on them, they only see the specific subcategories beneath them.

What I was wondering if it was possible to setup the main/first page of the forum to only display the categories so people do not have to see every subcategory unless they want to? Or would I have to create my own custom main page that has links to a specific page?

Also, is the top of the forum customizable like the graphic and the horizontal menu?

Thanks for your inquiry. Let me answer your questions one-by-one:

1) yes, in fact, if you click on this link, you will see categories only. You can set the default viewing mode in the admin control panel

2) yes, they are customizable. Take a look at this forum http://www.sharepointu.com/forums/default.asp

I too was looking at idealbb for more than a year now, from version 1 to the current 1.5. It looks nice (though I have yet to test its functionality) but the steep price certainly isn't. I am considering ASPplayground.

just checked out the idealbb site... god that was such a buggy software (no fixes for reported issues).. and support seemed lacking too.

It's also like a BILLION dollars...or thereabouts.
