Newsletter Feature?

Is a newsletter distribution feature still planned? Is there a target date for this feature to be released?

The newsletter feature is currently put on hold. The reasons:

1) There are better ways to send out mails (using specific maillist function built-in in mail servers, maillist specific programs) because of the extra flexibilities in those programs

2) Performance problems: Sending mails out with ASP produces a lot of overhead on CPU and RAM. Normally a personalized newsletter can only be sent at a rate of 6 mails per second (JMail), and with CDONTS at 10 mails per second. Now think about this. If you have like 1000 members, the server will be exhausted for about 100 seconds => Your forum will become totally unusable. Can you imagine if you have more than 3000 members? This will become unacceptable.

However, our forum has the ability to produce a mail list of 10,000 members in less than 0.5 second. With this power, you will be able to export the list to your mail server once, and store the list on the server for future use. You can also produce a list for new members joined after your last list, and export it to your mail server. Advantages => better personalization, better speed.
