New User help?

I' m a non-techie...had our web vendors install this software...so bear with me. As a user and also the admin for our newly installed and partially configured forum, I am unable to post or start threads despite being logged in! There are no buttons or links to do so...nothing shows up on my user screen (as either admin or normal user) except the Forum Statistics box... Do I have to activate users or categories somewhere in order to access the post/reply/NewPoll/etc icons and actions that appear in the bottom right side of screen? And is there any User Help features to get new users started?? Our user base is not particularly forum-savvy...I' m afraid they' ll be lost! What' s going on?? Tahnks-- ML

More info on this issue...when logged in, if I look at my own Member Profile, it says " User is currently offline." How am I offline if I am logged in?? Therein lies the key to this little predicament, me thinks! Please help!! ~Melissa

You need to switch on online user tracking in order to see whether a user is logged in or not.
