1) We can move topics form one forum to another.
IWBNI we could also move single posts from one topic to another.

2) It would also be nice if we could reply to a specific post and chose to post the reply to another topic.

Samuel, do you think it is feasible?

Thank you!

    1) No, you can' t because of the parent-child relationship between messages. Also, it doesn' t really make sense to move replies to other topics.

    2) again, this doesn' t make much sense. May I know the reason for this?

      Well, it does.

Sometimes I need to have a topic strictly on a specific subject, and I prefer other discussions arising from the main one to be moved to another separate topic. One of the roles of moderators is also to take care of this, in several communities, including mine, and I would be nice if they could use a " move message" function.

Plus, often users post a message that later realize be in the wrong topic, and they' ve asked me how to move it elsewhere.

I know I can copy the text, delete the post, create another post in another topic and paste the text in it, and impersonating the user I can also make so that the post is still from him/her. However, a " move" function would be much quicker.

        Hi Taym,

Thanks for the explanation. But it is not quite possible because I do not have a way to determine the real relationships between messages, so implementing a feature like this will cause more confusion than not.

Sometimes people just click on the reply button instead of the reply link at the top of each message, and thus disrupts the message association (the tree structure does not necessarily works all the time). So, it is very possible that you would move posts which shouldn' t have been moved to another thread -> I need to maintain the parent-child relationship for the tree structure. The " in reply to someone" feature doesn' t really work well because it relies on your members to click on the right reply button, and I have seen complaints on other forums about this " in reply to someone" feature.

I know your concern but I will leave the tree and flat structure as is. If you want to reinforce the " relevance" of each message in a thread, you can enable post moderation for that specific forum.
