I am impressed thus far with the features aspplayground offers.  A feature offered by Jive is a sidebar allowing users to search for catagory, see the most active threads and jump to other threads in the forum.  I beieve it also allows them to jump to urls that are topic related.  We are an issue oriented non profit.  A feature like that would ease member frustration and enhance quality responses.  Ed

What a rip-off! $2000 PER YEAR for only 1000 users? For that cost I think the program should take you out and buy you dinner every night of the week.

I second that emotion!

Ed,

Jive is certainly the very expensive option, but as you said, the side bar is quite nice and we have a page which is similiar to the that. It is the "My Forum" page which requires you to login as a member in order to see it.

OK   I registered, got the email and tried to login...  system didn't let me in.  I would assume that members to a forum would have this double (confirmation) registration feature.

did you confirm your email by following a link in the email? The double confirmation is optional, but I turn it on in this forum.

Great.  It worked this evening; and I see the threads.  With site integration I could probably add a panel or drop down area for related subject links.?

I personally have 9 areas that are divided into several subareas.  Each subarea has 6 to 10 cells, which have 150 to 600 members each.  General topic headings, in most cases will be global.  I would like to keep the discussion and polling contained in each subarea (not visible to other areas).  Also, each subarea would have the ability to field topics specific to them, and would not initially be accessable by other areas with out moderator permission.

If that is not confusing enough, add another dimension of 9 more areas with the same breakdown.  Number of Potential members will be 130,000.  Did I hear you say no problem..., is that level of distinction possible and how?

I think one of the questions I read concerned skins, when will they be available?

Thank you Samuel for your responese and attention to my requests.

Initially it sounds like forum/subforum with different user group permission (which is available in our software), but this feature
Also, each subarea would have the ability to field topics specific to them, and would not initially be accessable by other areas with out moderator permission.

I am not so sure..

Skin capability is not currently available but will be in the next version.

No, you need Windows servers running IIS and an MsSQL database.

A complete list of requirements can be found here and here.

Bottomline is that you can't run this forum software on anything else than Windows Servers with IIS. Apache with ChiliASP isn't the same.
