Incorporating playground into existing site
Wed. Apr 27, '05 5:51 PM

Hi guys, Firstly I apologise if this is posted within the wrong section, however I have a question regarding playground and how it could be tied in with my existing site. Ok I guess I should point out here that my site is written entirely in asp, not dot net. Im a developer and have put the site together myself. I have a registration page and email activation etc. I want to incorporate a forum into my site. Where my concerns lie are that I only want members to sign up once. By this I mean It would be silly to 'join' the site and then have to 'join' the discussion board. Understand? I dont have any .net experience and arent too sure where to start. The site itself isnt up yet. Im still developing it under IIS on windows XP. I have looked at alternatives such as snitz, but this one really appeals to me. Any suggestions, thoughts? Thanks, John

Hi John, Thanks for the inquiry first. No, you don't have to use the .NET version if you don't want to. We have a functionally equivalent ASP version too. Also, to integrate the forum w/ your own database, please use the Site Integration Package (SIP). See here for details: Do you support user table integration on my existing site? and SIP Readme

Is the "site integration package" the same as the ADSI Integration plug-in which costs $100, or are these two different things?

they are two different things. The ADSI plugin which costs 100 USD allows you to integrate with Active Directory, while the SIP allows you to interact with the software from a place outside the forum (your site, e.g.) and is free for all license holders.
