I like what you' ve got going on here, but ....

I think it is missing the ability to send private messages from member to member. Avatars would also be a nice option to add. I like what you' re doing here alot, but I really need software that allows private messages. It would also be nice to see how some other people have integrated your software into their own site ... especially some that have made their own modifications.

Also, a editable FAQ section would be nice.

, thanks for your comment first. The private messaging system is planned in the 1.3 release of this software. what is the Avartar you are referring to? Is it the comic face shows beside each message (lik UBB) you are talking about? I have sent an e-mail to you showing you the customization what my current user has done to incorporate the software into his site. Thanks

Can you be abit more specific on this one? an editable FAQ section in my home page or in this forum?

Avatars aren' t necessilary comic faces, they' re just pictures (48 x 64) that the member has selected that represent' s them. They usually appear on the left side of the post, where you have the picture displayed right now. Is that new? I don' t remember seeing the picture displayed on the posts yesterday. There are 2 ways to do the avatars: 1) Allow members to upload/link their own 2) Only let the members pick from the avatars that have been added to the forum by the admin

I was thinking of a FAQ for the forum that the admin can edit easily in the admin section. Here' s an example: http://forum.snitz.com/forum/faq.asp It' s not a major issue or anything, just another idea.

What if someone' s picture is 600 px wide? I think that an avatar would fit better there.

I am implementing a size check at this moment. (this is why my current version is an alpha) Only allowed size will be able to appear as member' s avartar..I am still checking to see how I can check the size for bmp file..gif and jpg are easy, but bmp or png are not that easy in my opinion..do u have any idea on this? thanks in advance

Honestly, I think that the member picture should be left in the profile and an avatar should be used on the posts. My concern is that some **** would sign up and put up a nasty picture for their member picture. If it picture was displayed with every post then alot more people would see it than if it was just located in the profile. I' m a moderator for the Official P.O.D. Forums and we have had several people posting pictures like this just to try to piss people off. I know you can' t stop them posting pictures unless you just turn that feature off, but it is one less thing that moderators will have to worry about.

Hi Mike, I am thinking that Avartar does indeed make a forum look unprofessional. Adding a picture like Samuel' s current one would not be great in my opinion (sorry samuel) So far we have checked about half a dozen ASP forums, and in our opinion, ASPPlayground.NET is the most professional one in terms of performance. Our forum has been set up in our corporate environment (intranet) where 450 users are currently using it. So far we did not encounter any usability problems.

thanks for your comment first. Actually, I am still trying to figure out how I can better serve my customers in terms of performance and look (I need a balance between the two). So far, as our test result suggests, our SQL forum is the fastest on the planet (which is what we are hoping to achieve during the course of the development) As to the avartar comment, thanks...
