Forum downtime and instability problems Sun. Jun 20, '04 2:04 AM (permalink)

During the past few days, many of you experienced forum downtime and some problems when you post/reply messages. The instability problem arised when our site was migrated to a new server.

We already asked the server admin to look into the problem and hopefully they will get the quirks all worked out very soon.

Sorry for the inconvenience this situation may have caused you, and thank you for your patience.

Regards,

As a result of the incomplete site migration by our host, many of you are still experiencing some problems. One of the most notable problems is that you keep losing your session info (logged out frequently). These problems have nothing to do with the software's functions.

The best solution for now is make sure you check the "save my login as cookie" box in the login window and then click submit. This will ensure that you stay logged in for the duration of your visit. If you don't want no cookies saved in your browser, you can simply click on the "logout" link on the top of the forum when you finish.

We are still working with the host to get all the problems resolved. Migration is never an easy task so please bear with us while we are working on it.

Again, sorry for any inconvenience caused.

The session problem appeared to be gone for good, as the host found the cause and tuned the server. However, the stability problem (uptime) is still to be improved. Some things are having to be adjusted as a result of moving from IIS 5 to IIS 6 with Windows 2003.

Sometimes you might still see the session error after posting a message and lose your session, but it is because the server is restarted while you compose your message.

Thanks for being patient with us and we appreciate your understanding.

The server is again experiencing session problem... please be patient while we are working to resolve the problem, and we are sorry for any inconvenience caused.

For now, make sure you check the "save as cookie" checkbox when you login to stay logged in when the problem occurs. You might find that the read tracking thing sometimes does not work because of this session issue.
