In organizing 238 forums/subforums I have decided there should be a better way.

It would be really nice to be able to have an option in the Dropdown to "Move This Forum up 'x' spaces", or better yet have a dropdown to move it to a position relative to other Forums already created.

Basically, anything more efficient than the 1 at a time Up/Down arrow.

Also, a way to literally copy a Forum with the Forum name intact instead of {This is a new Forum}"

And...a way to globally set all forum options or better- after setting up one forum (Category/subforum) the ability to copy it's options to any other existing Forums overwritng the current options.

Yeah- I used the Copy Forum method, but now I changed my mind on amount of uploads and a couple other things.

The option I know of is to manually edit each of the 238 categories/subforums.

OH- one last thing...if at all possible a way to collapse Categories within the Forum management view. Even on a Cable modem it takes a while to reload all 238 categories/subforums whenever I make a change.

Granted, the Forum Setup really only needs to be done once (hopefully). But I feel there is room for improvement regarding the Forum Management.

No offense, but 238 forums is WAY too many. I took a look at your forum and I would recommend that you use only your top-level forums at first, and add sub-forums only as they are needed. The way it is right now it's totally overwhelming to a new visitor and you'll probably end up spending a lot of time moving posts around trying to enforce all of that categorization.

Just my two cents, not that you asked.

I hear ya. However, there are very specific reasons for this structure. Also, I know this is not too many because a very popular forum has 1000's of posts in every category/subcategory. I am leaving out the weaker categories. Where there are subforums there are at least 2000-4000 searches per month on that exact phrase.

My AdWords campaign uses specific phrases only and will steer people directly to the relevant category. Ditto for Overture.

Granted, the other forum is well populated- but it does give a very good barometer of what is most popular.

I know it's a lot- that's why I have them closed by default.

But people really do have needs for every single category/subforum as proven by an existing forum.

Not so overwhelming when you're a bride to be you know what you want to post, punch in 'wedding dress' at Yahoo/Google and click my link that takes you right to that category.

Sorry, this is the most extreme case that I have seen , and you will have to customize the software (mod) because most people (99.9%) will never have the needs for such features.

Sorry about this and I know this may sound a bit disappointing but even if I change my mind and decide to consider these features for future versions, these features will still be sitting at the bottom of my prioritized to-do list (you won't believe how many items are in my to-do and consideration list) and they may never see the light of day. Just want to be honest with you.

It's cool, man. It is true this Forum happens to be the most complex from an organization standpoint.

I suppose it's a non issue hence forth anyways. Even in 1152x864 it was like:

Copy Forum...

Select forum from top.

Hit End to get to bottom.

Apply.

Back to Forums and wait for the page to load. Repeat many times. Took literally 4 hours to collapse categories as other subforums and basically reorganize things. I'll live. It is just clicking a few keys afterall!
