Feature Suggestions for Calendar Mon. Dec 4, '06 6:19 PM (permalink)

Hi Samuel.  It's your favorite pest again, but this time without questions.  Now that I finally have ASP Playground installed, and can start playing with the configuration options, I have to tell you that this software rocks!

Maybe I've missed something, but here's a couple suggestions for the Calendar function:

Could we have a #EventStartDate# (and perhaps an #EventEndDate#) variable for our outgoing event subscription messages?  It would be nice to automatically tell not only the name of the event, and the description of the event, but when it's actually happening.  (Oh sure, the date could be included in the event description, but I can't count on users to do that when they enter an event.)

Also, could you install some type of error handler for when "Guest" signs up for an event.  Right now, it just pops up a blank window.  I understand why you can't sign someone up when you don't know who they are, but it might be nice to say, "You are currently using a Guest account, and we are unable to sign you up until you register and log-in under your own account."  I'm quite certain that I'll have genuine guests trying to sign up, as well as have regular members who got lazy and didn't log in try to sign up, and both will be confused by a pop-up blank window.

Thanks!

One more feature suggestion for the calendar.  This seems so obvious I'm surprised you don't already do it.

Under the "My subcription" section of the control panel (which I would argue should be called "My subscription*s*, with an "s"), could we add a section for Calendar subscriptions?  It just seems logical when we have sections for Forum and Thread subscriptions.
