Error in pgdonline Tue. Oct 15, '02 5:44 AM (permalink)

Hello out there,

I' m using v.1.95.22 full version. After installation I got the following errormessage.

>
Microsoft VBScript runtime - Fehler ' 800a01a8'

Object required

/internet/forum/pgdonline.asp, line 18
<

This appears in every forum window. It also appeared in the previous version (1.92.21). I could solve the problem by disabeling lines 12 to 21. But I' m sure this wasn' t your intention to handle this.

    Hi Andreas,

I am not sure how this could happen. If you can, please response.write the the parameters spGetSession gets for me. It is at line 15. You can also try resetting the forum by loging on to the admin panel-> basic maintenance->reset forum. This is the first time I see this specific report. I guess it is more or less a German Server issue.

    Thanks.

      Hi Samuel,

I think I found the solution by my self. Our Admin has changed the datastore parameter in the masterinclude.asp for some reasons (security ?!?!) to the following:
      >
      datastore = " DSN=forum;User Id=****;SERVER=****;UID=****;APP=Microsoft Development Environment;WSID=****;Trusted_Connection=Yes"
      <

I' m not sure whether this has any influence on the forum (except the pgdonline). Can you give me advice?

Resetting has no influence at all. But I have to do a reset EVERY time I chance forums settings, add a new one, make private etc. Is this intentional?

Are you saying that by changing the parameters back to our OLEDB format, your pgdonline no longer errors?

I don' t think DSN is a good idea. Using DSN forces the application to use OLEDB for ODBC instead of the native OLEDB provider. I have only tested the OLEDB provider (as recommended by Microsoft for various reasons), not OLEDB for ODBC -> this is the reason why I don' t provide any alternative connection strings. You should stick with our original connection string format.

And no, you shouldn' t need to reset the forum every time. Under normal condition, you won' t have the need to touch the reset button at all. The reset button is used to refresh cache (e.g. after you upgrade the forum to a newer version).

        Thanks

Sorry my mistake. Our network Admin has changed the datastore parameter on initial installation to DSN. And it still is set to DSN.

I solved the PGDonline issue by disabeling lines 12 to 21. Thats all.

But I' ll talk to him, maybe he can switch back to the oroginal settings. I have no idea why he uses alternate settings.
