Q: Does ASPPlayground.NET support online user tracking? I love this feature but have heard that it can kill forum performance. Yes, we do support online user tracking with default installation. Our user tracking implementation tracks members' : - names
- current actions
- the time of last activity
- Who are currently browsing this particular forum
- Who are currently browsing this particular topic
We also allow your members to hide from the online user list (completely hidden from anyone) in case your members don' t feel comfortable being tracked. The tracking records will be automatically removed by the session timeout value you specified in admin panel. This tracking feature, unlike other software, does not slow down the forum in any measurable way. With our database implementation, this feature takes less than 0.02 second to complete and therefore you won' t even know whether the feature is turned on or not by measuring the speed difference. We understand that performance means everything for a forum application and have spent countless hours to tweak and squeeze the last bit of performance out of your SQL Server. You can switch this feature on or off all by your own preference without having to worry a bit about your forum' s performance. A " feature" will only become a " benefit" to you if you can turn it on whenever you want to.
