Calendar

Hi I am evualating you software for use in my site.
 
One of the key components is the ability for members to add and edit their own events in the calendar area.
 
So what i would like to do is to be able to customize the software myself to add the additional component of State.  So the calendar can be displayed via state events.
 
Now I see I can do the customization myself.
 
The questions are:
1) Are users allowed to use the calendar? Can they Add/Edit?
2) Can I do an approve/disapprove before it gets posted publicly?

1. Yes, they can do both if you set the permission for them in the admin control panel
2. there is currently no such feature in the software. However, you can allow only certain users to post event by their group membership, i.e., you can allow all users to view the calendar while only allowing certain people to post event to the calendar.
