Admin Approval Required Notification
Sat. Oct 11, '03 10:25 AM
( permalink)
It would be nice if when users register for the site and under User Registration Restriction, Admin Approval Required, is selected that the system generates an e-mail to the administrator stating that users are waiting on Admin Approval. This would keep admins from having to sit behind their computer waiting for users to roll in. Now I do realize that users queue up that require Admin Approval; however, you can't sit behind the computer ALL day. Or maybe this feature (or something like it) is already in the platform? Regards, Darren Mitchell

this feature (or something like it) is already in the platform? Yes it is. If you set up the server messages correctly, you will receive notification when someone signup.

How do I determine what account is used for administrator approvals? How do I determine whether these registration requests will arrive via email or private message? We have new users waiting to be approved by our board administrator, but none of the administrators have recieved any emails or PMs. Thanks!

registration approval requests will be sent to the email account you specified in the admin control panel, under section basic configuration. In addition, you can find those who have not been approved under section User management. Check the radio button "Show all users who haven't passed the registration" and then click the "Search !" button.

When you query users that have not passed registration, what does the "send letter" button do? What letter is sent and who is the intended recipient (the admin or the user)?

ORIGINAL: Samuel registration approval requests will be sent to the email account you specified in the admin control panel, under section basic configuration. In addition, you can find those who have not been approved under section User management. Check the radio button "Show all users who haven't passed the registration" and then click the "Search !" button. I've identified the email account under "basic configuration" and no registration requests from the message board have been logged in my SMTP server. I'm not using CDONTS since we use third party software to handle POP3 and SMTP. Does the ASP Playground log the messages it attempts to send? Where's the evidence this software is doing what it's supposed to. Are the messages destined for the administrator stuck in a queue somewhere or do they need to be regenerated? I was easy to query for users that haven't passed registration. Now what am I supposed to do? Do I contact each person and tell them to re-register? What does the "send" button do?

What email address is in the "From"' field when our administrator gets a message asking to approve new people trying to register? This will help me search the logs.

the from field - it could be your admin's email, or the FROM email you specify in the server message section. If the FROM email in the server message section is left blank, the software will use the admin's email to send the registration approval request - in other words, it will appear that the mail is from yourself (the from header and to header are identical). By the way, if you need additional help on this, please post in the support forum, thanks.
