About Reporting Forum Error you encountered - 03/04/2003 06:56:19 PM
Hi everyone,

When you report forum errors here, please follow the steps below:
  1. Include the detailed error message and / or screen shots
  2. Try reproducing it on the demo forum
  3. Post a bug report

Include the detailed error message and / or screen shots

Here is how:

There is an error logger in the admin control panel. Please open the error you want to report, and copy & paste the error details into the forum message. Don't forget to import errors into your error logger if you see a notice about "some errors waiting to be imported".

If the error you encountered prevented you from accessing the admin control panel (mostly database related errors), you should be able to find some log files under the ~/upfiles/logs/ folder. Please attach the log file(s) in your report.

If the issue you are reporting is a software behavior issue (doesn't generate errors), please specify in your error report.

If you are trying to report some anomalies on the page display or trying to refer to something that cannot be explained easily in simple words, please include a screen shot or two. I will be able to provide better help if I can understand the problem better.

Try reproducing it on the demo forum

Once you have the detailed error message, please try reproducing the issue on the forum. If you can, then this is indeed a bug in the software. See if you get the same error logged in the demo forum.

If the nature of the issue you encountered does not allow you to try on my demo forum, don't worry about it.

Post a bug report

Ok, now you can post your issue on the forum. Please include:
  1. The detailed error message you gathered. If there isn't any, let me know as well.
  2. What are the steps to reproduce the issue. If you have reproduced the issue on the demo forum, please point it out to me. The demo forum is in debug mode so it has more information.
