A few questions Thu. Apr 25, '02 9:25 PM (permalink)

Just found your forums and I must say they are very nice indeed!

Tempted to buy but was wondering.........

1. Is it possible to transfer data from snitz to playground? (I expect not but have to ask)

2. How many tables are in the database? (Snitz annoys me a little since it has so many)

3. Is it really $97

Cheers.

Jon

P.S. Samuel - tried ICQing you but got no reply. If you answer this here you can ignore.

    Dear Jonathan Irvine,

thank you for your interests and your comments. Let me answer your questions one by one.

    1. Is it possible to transfer data from snitz to playground? (I expect not but have to ask)

Yes you can. One of our customers, Chris Kaminski, sent me a conversion script for Snitz - ASPPlayground.NET today. You can go to his forum at: http://forum.homenethelp.com to see the results. Let' s thank Chris for his effort to help our community!

    2. How many tables are in the database? (Snitz annoys me a little since it has so many)

We have 21 tables in the forum, each serves a very unique purpose. We do not overuse table for normalization purposes. I don' t know how many Snitz have, but our table structure will guarantee ultimate response time you will never be able to experience with Snitz.

    3. Is it really $97

Yes it is for personal use, but $197 for commercial web site. It is still a bargain at that price considering the features and performance our forum has.

Let me know if you have any other questions, and we will be happy to answer you.

Oh, I didn' t install ICQ here on the development server..so sorry for the delay.

      Samuel,

Thanks for your swift reply. That' s great that it' s possible to convert from snitz. Do you know what version Chris had before he converted?

Thanks for the follow up email offering free installation too.

If I do go ahead and buy this I think it would have to be the commercial license, does this mean I can remove the link to aspplayground at the bottom?

The script converts 3.3.x of Snitz to 1.40.10 of our software (current version)

And sorry, but no, you can' t remove the copyright notice. It has to remain intact and visible at all times. There are some forums out there charging you over 2000 US dollars so you can remove the notice, but we would like to keep the costs down for our customers, so we won' t do that. The small copyright notice wouldn' t interfere your forum display, I suppose? (you can change the CSS so the notice can be displayed with the font face of your choice)

Please let us know if you have any other questions. Thank you.

The script is being tested by a couple people this weekend. I will post an official version in a day or two.
